World of Warcraft Tips

ENCHANTING

I'm amazed at the number of players who simply sell unwanted green
items to a vendor. Items with gray text are considered 'vendor
trash'...just dump them on a vendor. Items with green text are
'uncommon'.

Almost any item that is not gray can be disenchanted by a player
with the Enchanting profession. Disenchanting, also called DEing or
'breaking' converts that item into special materials used by
Enchanters. (Enchanters uses dusts and essences to add bonuses to
weapons and gear.)

There are many green items in the game that aren't really
practical. Cloth gloves with 'parry' bonuses are clearly not going
to be used by anyone. The sole purpose for those are to have items
in the game that can be DE'd to create the materials for Enchanters.
Here's a hint: the DE'd materials will ALMOST ALWAYS sell for way
more than a vendor will pay you for the item.

Don't be lazy, and lose money by selling greens to a vendor!

If you don't have the Enchanting profession, find a friend in-game,
especially a guild-mate, who is willing to break items for you. I
never pay to have mine broken...I just mail them to one particular
guildmate who, when he gets around to it, breaks the item and mails
back the mats. THEN I sell those mats on the AH. Sometimes I pile
up a bunch of greens and send them all at once to make it easy for
him.

Little steps like this add up over time, so earn yourself some more
gold by using an Enchanter to break green items for you, and then
sell the mats.
